An exclusive program for new Carmen
Rail repair is precise work with no room for guesswork. Every new hire starts in our Carman Training Center, where we teach the standards, the procedures and the certifications that AAR-certified repair requires before anyone works on a customer’s railcar.
New Carmen learn on the same equipment and the same standards they will use on the shop floor and in the field. They come out understanding not only how to do the work, but why the standard exists and what dwell time costs the customer when the work is done wrong.

Standards and procedures
New Carmen learn the AAR standards behind our certifications, B-25, B-26, B-28, M-992, M-1003, Multi-Level Rack Inspections and S-486 Air Brake, and how each applies to real repairs.
Hands-on repair
Training happens on the tools and equipment used in the shop and on the mobile trucks, so new hires are ready for scheduled facility work and field dispatches alike.
Safety first, always
Blue Flags, wheel chocks, full PPE and safe work procedures are taught from day one. Safe practice is not a module. It is how the whole shop operates.

Safety training is not just for new hires. Every member of staff, from the newest Carman to senior leadership, attends mandatory safety training every week. No exceptions.
Our program is built on OSHA requirements plus the AAR and FRA standards that govern rail repair. Keeping every crew current, every week, is how we protect our people and keep the work true to the certifications behind it.
